ABOUT US
Burgert Gildenhuys established BC Gildenhuys & Associates in 1997 in response to the needs of the developing local government system in South Africa. The current environment developed from a very fragmented planning and development system. The formal recognition of integrated development planning as fundamental to government policy has left challenges that have to be met.
BC Gildenhuys & Associates (Pty) Ltd started as a close corporation established in 1997. It was converted in 2019 to a private company and restructured in terms of its shareholding. The company has three directors with a 49% shareholding and empowerment development solutions NPC having a 51% share in the business.
BC Gildenhuys and Associates (Pty) Ltd is a Level 2 B-BBEE company.
BURGERT GILDENHUYS
Burgert is an internationally recognised expert in municipal planning, spatial, economic development, and local government finances. He has degrees in Urban and Regional Planning as well as Municipal Administration backed by more than 40 years’ experience.
Burgert is responsible for the overall management and business development of BC Gildenhuys & Associates. Burgert has a long-standing involvement with the municipal sector in South Africa and deals with the total spectrum of municipalities on issues of spatial planning and municipal service delivery. He specialises the integration of spatial planning with municipal finances and infrastructure planning with the focus on showing the long-term capital and operating impact of spatial planning and municipal service delivery.
STEPHAN GILDENHUYS
Stephan is a registered professional Town and Regional Planner. He obtained a Master’s degrees in Town and Regional Planning (University of Pretoria) and Urban Design (University of Witwatersrand). He has 12 years’ local and international experience. His experience includes various spatial, strategic and design projects at different levels of government in urban and in rural areas. He specialises in the spatial quantification of urban spatial growth dynamics measured against the objectives of municipal spatial plans
